LOCAL GOVERNMENT ISSUES

       Philippine local governance can be traced to the early period of precolonial era in the Philippines.  The Sultan. rajahs and Datus in the different villages had economic, political and socio-cultural power and authority.  the elders had certain powers as well.  Many issues have been tackled from that period to the present.  In the 21st century, where the Philippines developed its Local Government Code in 1991, there are socio-economic as well as political issues and problems that beset its local government units.  To name a few:
 political dynasties ; political parties  ;  economic issue of the One Town One Product program;  Local Taxation ;  Gender and Women Issues;  RH Bill ;  e-governance;  Information Technology and Communication Technologies;  Environment issues (Mining in Palawan);  Waste disposal problems;  and Ecotourism
